The chess pieces are NOT painted...they are hand-made with a combination of ebony and sheesham wood components.  The pieces are triple-weighted for a comfortable feel with every move, and they are footed with leather pads to protect the pieces and board.

Made in Germany, this beautiful 19.25 inch ebony and maple chess board is 1/2 inch thick and features 2 inch squares.  The framed board has rounded edges and corners, and a strip of inlaid birdseye maple separates the frame from the playing field.
