An Italian Chess Set In Metal & Faux Leather

Made in Italy by Ital Fama, this metal and faux leather chess set has a full compliment of Florence metal chess pieces with 3.25 inch Kings and base diameters of 1 inch. The finely sculpted metal pieces have a classic appearance from the Florentine era, with a broad pedestal base that gives each piece a solid weight that you will feel with every move.

The 13 inch Italian faux leather chess board is 1/2 inch thick with 1.25 inch black and gold squares.  The black frame is decorated with a gold colored border that enhances the quality of this set.  The brass and silver colored Florentine pieces look stunning on this black and gold chess board. 

The City of Florence was the center of the Italian Renaissance from the 14th to the 16th centuries, at which time the City teemed with artistic and intellectual life. Many well known artists and authors were active in Florence, including Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael, Dante, Boccaccio, Botticelli, and Donatello.

Florence was dominated by the Medici family from the 15th to the 18th centuries.  But it is now largely a tourist center known for its history and handicrafts.
