A Great Renaissance Style Chess Set

Capture the spirit of the Renaissance with this elegant metal chess set.   The Renaissance is known as the time of the great revival of art, literature, and learning in Europe.  Occuring between the 14th and 17th centuries, it was the historic transition from the medieval to the modern world.

The set comes with a full compliment of Italian made Renaissance metal chess pieces with 5.5" Kings, and base diameters of 1.5 inches. The fine detail in the King's cloak and the elegant swirled desgin of the Queens costume exemplify the attire of the period. The life-like expressions on the face of the King, Queen and Bishop are striking and the design of the Castle shows the fine detail of the stone walls typical of that era.  All of the pieces are positioned on decorative pedestals for a solid foundation.

The 21.25 inch chess board, made in Greece by Manopoulos, is made of pressed enameled brass over wood with metal feet and 2 inch squares. The Renaissance pieces are perfectly matched with this unique metal chess board.
